Project Location: Bhugolchhap, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhuli 

Project Duration: 12 February 2018 – 15 May 2019  

Total Beneficiaries: 80 households 

Project Overview 

To strengthen income opportunities and food security among vulnerable rural households, Nepal Christian Relief Services (NCRS) implemented an Integrated Livelihood Support Project focusing on livestock rearing and small-scale agriculture. The project aimed to equip families with practical skills, productive assets, and technical support to help them build sustainable livelihoods. 

Key Activities and Support Provided 

Livestock and Poultry Support 

  • Three days of goat-keeping training provided to 30 households.
  • Three days of poultry farming training provided to 25 households. 
  • Three days of rabbit farming training provided to 25 households.
 

Livestock Distribution 

  • Goats: Two goats per household distributed to 30 households.
  • Chickens: Twenty-three chicks per household distributed to 25 households. 
  • Rabbits: Three rabbits per household (two females and one male) distributed to 25 households.
  • Boer Goats: Two Boer goats distributed to the goat-farming group to improve breeding quality.
 

Infrastructure and Inputs 

  • Distribution of shed construction materials for goat, poultry, and rabbit farming groups. 
 

Agriculture and Skill Enhancement 

  • Two days of lemon plantation training provided to 50 households.
  • Distribution of lemon saplings to each participating household.
  • Three days of refresher training provided to three farming groups to reinforce skills and good practices.
 

Project Handover 

The Project Handover Ceremony was held on 28 November 2018, formally transferring responsibility to the community groups and local stakeholders. A Social Audit was also successfully completed, ensuring transparency, accountability, and long-term ownership and sustainability of the project interventions. 

Project Impact 

  • Diversified livelihood options for 80 households.
  • Improved livestock management skills and productivity.
  • Enhanced household food security and income opportunities.
  • Strengthened community resilience and long-term livelihood sustainability.
