Maili Maya Tamang of Nuwakot lost nine members of her family, including her daughter, two daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren, in the devastating floods. Six of her grandchildren were swept away while at school, while other family members were carried away with their home.
Maili Maya, her husband, one daughter, and one grandchild survived, but the flood destroyed their house, farmland, belongings, and primary source of livelihood. Maili Maya also sustained a leg injury and continues to experience pain despite an X-ray showing no serious damage.
In the aftermath of the disaster, Nepal Christian Relief Services (NCRS) provided the family with their first relief assistance, including hygiene kits and tarpaulins. Their immediate needs were met, bringing a ray of hope during an extremely difficult time.
