Timba Yangi Tamang, 40, from Neshing, Ward No. 2 of Aamachodingmo Rural Municipality, Rasuwa district, is facing an uncertain future after losing her husband in the recent flash floods. Her husband had worked as a labourer inside the tunnel of the 216 MW hydropower project for the past four to five years. His death has left Timba as the sole caregiver of their three children.
The youngest child is only one year old, while her middle son is 14. Their eldest daughter also requires additional care and support due to developmental difficulties, not physical but she is mentally not sound. With no regular income earner remaining in the household, meeting the family’s basic needs has become a significant challenge.
The family has received food items from the government, which have provided some immediate assistance. Also, she expressed her sincere thanks to SPI and NCRS for the huge relief package. However, Timba and her children continue to face an uncertain future and need sustained support to meet their essential needs and rebuild their lives.
“There is no one left to earn for our family,” Timba shared, expressing the vulnerability of her household following the loss of her husband.
